During the recent Advocacy Day Issues Briefing, ABMA members had the privilege of hearing from guest speaker Bruce E. Lundegren, Assistant Chief Counsel at the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Office of Advocacy. Bruce’s expertise and insights into regulatory affairs left a lasting impact on attendees, providing valuable perspectives on navigating the complex regulatory landscape.
Central to Bruce’s address were the pressing issues surrounding OSHA regulations and the proposal of new ‘heat rules’. With a keen understanding of the complexities involved, he outlined the SBA’s proactive stance in advocating for policies that balance regulatory compliance with the unique operational needs of small businesses in the LBM sector.
As we continue our advocacy efforts, we’re excited to share an upcoming opportunity for ABMA members to participate in a virtual roundtable hosted by Bruce. Scheduled for May 17, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon (Eastern Time), this Small Business Labor Safety (OSHA/MSHA) Roundtable will be conducted via Teams Meeting.
The roundtable will focus on discussing important regulatory actions by OSHA and MSHA, including OSHA’s final Worker Walkaround rule and proposed Emergency Response standard. This is a valuable opportunity for ABMA members to engage directly with policymakers, share their perspectives, and contribute to shaping regulatory priorities that impact the building materials industry.
To participate in the roundtable, please RSVP by replying to Bruce’s email invitation. Access information for the Teams Meeting will be provided upon confirmation of your attendance. If you have specific issues or topics you’d like to discuss during the roundtable, don’t hesitate to reach out to Bruce directly.
Your participation in this roundtable is crucial in ensuring that small business perspectives are heard and considered in regulatory decision-making processes. We encourage all ABMA members to take advantage of this opportunity to make their voices heard and contribute to shaping policies that promote growth, innovation, and sustainability in our industry.
We look forward to your active participation in the Small Business Labor Safety Roundtable on May 17th and to continuing our collaborative efforts to advocate for the interests of the building materials industry.
