“Inside the Capitol” with Oregon Congressman Kurt Schrader

On Thursday, December 2, 2021, at 10 AM, the ABMA will launch the first entry into our “Inside the Capitol” virtual series. Our first guest will be Oregon Congressman Kurt Schrader.

Congressman Schrader is currently serving his 7th term representing the 5th District—a swing district South of Portland, OR. A moderate/conservative Democrat, he has been in the middle of the lengthy negotiations this fall in the House over the size and scope of the Build Back Better legislation. Rep. Schrader is a member of the Blue Dog Coalition—a group of nineteen fiscally conservative House Democrats—as well as the New Democrat Coalition, and the only bipartisan working group in the House, the Problem Solvers Caucus. More importantly, he is also a member of the House Working Forests Caucus and is intimately familiar with issues associated with the forest products industry.

We look forward to a lively discussion with Rep. Schrader on his interactions with House leadership this year and what to expect as we head into 2022.

Update: Registration is now closed.

About “Inside the Capitol”
“Inside the Capitol” was established to introduce members of Congress from across the country to our ABMA membership. Legislators will share their insight into the latest issues dominating Washington DC, discuss how federal policy impacts the LBM industry, and take questions from the audience. These virtual meetings will offer behind the scenes access to the halls of the Capitol from respected and influential policy makers from both the Senate and the House of Representatives.
