$154.2 Billion Awarded in Contracting to Small Businesses


According to the U.S. Small Business Association (SBA), “Administrator Isabella Casillas Guzman, head of the SBA and the voice for America’s 33 million small businesses in President Biden’s Cabinet, announced that the Biden-Harris Administration exceeded its small business federal contracting goal, awarding 27.2 percent or $154.2 billion in federal contract dollars to small businesses, an $8 billion increase from the previous fiscal year.”

Infrastructure and Reconciliation Debates Continue


On Tuesday, the full House voted 220-211 to pass H.R. 5305, a measure that would keep the government funded at current levels until December 3. The current fiscal year runs out September 30. The bill also waives the federal debt cap limit until December 2022 and includes almost $30 billion in disaster aid for states that have suffered from hurricane damage and other natural disasters. As part of this disaster aid, $5 billion is allotted for housing and economic development projects and $2.6 billion for highway repairs.

ABMA Outlines Vaccine Mandate Concerns to OSHA


On Friday, September 17th, ABMA Government Affairs Associate Pat Rita and ABMA Director of Legislative & Regulatory Affairs Kirk Ives attended a U.S. Small Business Association (SBA) sponsored meeting with OSHA officials and other interested parties on a number of workplace safety issues, most importantly, President Biden’s proposed vaccine mandate and testing requirements for employers with 100 or more employees.
